TWLOHA

TWLOHA stands for 'To Write Love On Her Arms', a "non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hopes and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery" (taken from their website).

Deep stuff.

Growing up, that kind of stuff was never talked about, or even mentioned in my family or community. I grew up in a conservative christian home so I thought it only happened in the movies and in books.

But college life is a little majorly different than my life back home on the farm. That kind of "stuff" happens all the time. It's real, very real.

There is a national TWLOHA day, and my school always does something for it. Today we set up tables in the classroom building lobbies and have tons of markers sitting out. We encourage people to stop by, write the word 'Love' somewhere on their arm to show their support and love to those struggling. It's a really powerful event because so many students participate.

Even though depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide are very uncomfortable topics to discuss, the students can still show support by write the word 'love' on their arms. It's amazing to support and encourage someone like that.

"I am a living story. I will not give up."

"We were created to love and be loved."

Love is the movement <3
