Day #6: Who would you trade places with for a day?
I'd trade places with this woman.....
I don't know who she is. I don't know her name. I don't know her age. I don't know where she's from.
If I traded places with her I would be able to experience what it's like to live in a poverty stricken area. I would experience going a day without food. I would live in a shelter made from animal manure bricks. I would wear the same outfit (which would probably be homemade and hand-me-down) for weeks at a time. I would have to salvage and hunt for my own food.
This reminds me of Matthew West's song, "My Own Little World"....
My favorite words of the song...wow, they can really hit me hard.
"I've never gone hungry, always felt safe. I got money in my pocket, shoes on my feet. I try to stay awake during Sunday morning church"
That woman above probably has never had the opportunity to go to church. She has probably felt hungry as many times as I have felt stuffed. She probably doesn't feel safe. She probably doesn't own shoes, or have money in her purse. In fact she probably doesn't even own a purse!
If I could experience a day in her life I know I would come back to my own little world a completely different person. I would be so much more thankful for everything that I own and everyone that I know.
So while I'm over taking over her life for the day, she would probably have a ball living my life for a day! Going to art classes, hanging out with my crazy-wonderful friends, eating all the deep fried college food...Yep, she'd love it!
Who would you pick to trade a day with? Feel free to comment!
